Understand that everyone thinks different. There are multiple truths that exist
You might have experienced this in movies where they show a given situation from different people's perspectives. The same situation looks very different from different individuals point of view.

This same concept can be expanded to Truth. In most cases, there is no absolute truth. So, when someone says he/she is telling or experiencing the truth appreciate the fact that he/she is potentially right even though you disagree with him/her.

Let me give an example. Think of a police officer who wants to do the best for his community and dismantle a gang that is selling drugs. However, he does not get any support from his seniors. In spite of this situation, the officer spends him own personal money/time, leads an operation and finally destroys the gang. After doing all this, the officer does not get any recognition from the public or his own superiors. However, the officer continues doing such deeds and as a consequence, his family suffers financially. Finally, the officer gets fed up and starts taking bribes for his family's happiness sake. Now, from this officer's point of view he is doing the right thing and he is convinced he is doing the right thing.

When we come across such situations, my recommendation is to avoid arguing with the person trying to convince him/her that his/her truth is wrong. That is a futile exercise and you will most likely fail. However, if you accept the situation, appreciate his/her perspective, both of you can move on in life peacefully.
