You control what gets recorded in your mind. Life is full of interactions and scenes that you record in your mind

As we get older, we keep accumulating interactions and scenes that we record on our mind. These recordings contribute to how much you suffer in your day-to-day life. Let me take an example of a typical day to make my point. You wake up in the morning and after finishing your morning activities, you go and wake up the child so that he/she gets ready for school. Your child takes a lot of time to get up and you need to try multiple times to wake him/her up. There is a RECORDING 1 on your mind. Then you get into the car to go to office and there is traffic jam. That has a RECORDING 2 on your mind. After that you get to office and one of your colleague says "That’s a weird color sweater you are wearing". That's RECORDING 3 on your mind. So, the day goes on and finally you come home with around 10 RECORDINGS for the day. Now let us look at 2 different choices you can make.

Option 1:

Start the day with being mad at the child, then being mad at the traffic jam and then being mad at the colleague. With each negative recording, the stress keeps growing and this has a spirally effect and increases the amount of negativity as the day progresses. Now, all that negativity should be vented out somewhere. So, who are the victims – Your family..

Option 2:

You know your child's behavior in the morning. So start the waking process earlier. Let the child wake up pleasantly, you give him/her a hug and wide good morning smile. You know the typical traffic situation. So, plan to start early OR take morning meetings from home and then head to work at first available break in late morning when traffic is less. When a colleague doesn't like your red sweater, understand that everyone has different tastes and liking. If not, why are there 100s of color variants in stores? So, maybe this colleague doesn’t like red color. Accept it with a smile and move on.

As you can see, in Option 2, you will come home pleasant with no hard feelings or negative thoughts. You are mentally fresh and have a pleasant time with your family before hitting the bed.

Mrs. Shivani gives an example of a 45 yr old person who is mad at his father. The reason is, when the person was 10 yr old, his father insulted him in front of his friends. So, this person has a negative recording about his father that he still remembers 35 years later. You can be the judge hear. Is that the only thing the father has done to this person in the 45 years of his life?

Now, the ball is your court!! You can record what you want!! Just remember you and your loved ones have to bear the consequences of your recordings.
